House training your dog can be both rewarding and beneficial not only to you and your family but also to the dog as well. There are many ways to house train your dog as there are many way to control their behaviors. Read along to know some of the methods in house training your dog.

Set up your dog’s living area

There are two important things that you need to prepare for house training your dog. First, you need to setup your dog’s living area in a small limited space such as part of the garage or kitchen. Make sure that you get to spend as much time as possible with your dog in its living area. It is essential to let him play in this area as well as feed and sleep him here. Provide a special bed for your dog; this can be a blanket or towel, a cardboard box cut in half, or a basket. Once your dog knows that it is his sleeping bed, you can move it anywhere in the house. Whenever you’re not with him in his living area, make sure that he doesn’t go anywhere by leashing him.

Set up your dog’s toilet area

The second important thing to prepare for house training your dog is to set up its toilet area. Whenever he needs to eliminate, always accompany him to that area until he develops the habit of eliminating there. One way to help you do this is to feed your dog on a regular schedule because this will allow them to eliminate on a regular schedule also. Take note that it’s important that he has regular access to his toilet area, otherwise he’ll soil himself, his living area and sleeping bed and it would take longer to house train him.

House training

Once your dog’s familiar with his living and toilet areas, you can start extending his living area to other parts of the house. Let him have access one room at a time, but only when you’re sure that his bowels and bladder are empty. Let her do things in this room, such as playing, eating and sleeping, but only when you’re there to oversee him. When you’re not available, put his bed in that room and let him sleep or you can put him back to his living area.

Reward your dog

To speed up the house training process, always reward and praise whenever your dog eliminates in his toilet area. It is also important not to scold your dog when they cause accidents or make mistakes. This causes confusion to the dog and slows down her house training process.

House training issues

If your dog still soils in his living area or bed, you may have him there for too long or the living area may be too big. Take him to his toilet area regularly or setup his living area in a smaller area. If your dog is the type who drinks too much water due to boredom, limit his water, bring him to his toilet area more frequently and provide him activities so he won’t be bored.

The first step in dog training is to choose the breed of dog that you want to train.

Make The Dogs Recognize Who’s in Charge

They are man’s best friend, as they are so cute and lovable, intelligent and witty, slender and furry.

Hunting The Right Dog

These traits often lead to some of these animals being recruited into service positions, either as assistant dogs for the disabled or as bomb and drug sniffers for law enforcement authorities. Before digging deeper to any of these things, let’s start form the most primary first: choosing the right dog that fits you. Rare is the country where dogs of mixed and commonly unknown heritage do not outnumber their blue-blood, purebred relations. Saluki and pharaoh hounds, particularly, can trace their ancestries back to antiquity.

Comprised of guardians of livestock and property, police dogs, sled dogs and rescue dogs come in all shapes and sizes, from the standard schnauzer to the Great Dane. Frequently used interchangeably, the terms “mixed breed” and “crossbreed” have slightly different meanings. The name origins from the Latin terra, meaning “for earth”, most terriers were primitively bred to “go to ground” after burrowing vermin, larger rodents and even foxes. Overlarge to go to ground, the popular Airedale terrier puts its strength and obstinate streak to use as a surprisingly fierce watchdog, which makes them really good for dog training.

Motivated by rising inner-city crime rates and by the rather twisted belief that owning a powerful dog in some way raises one’s social standing, too many people have invested a lot of money in getting one of these dogs, but occasionally nothing can win over some of these dogs that not all strangers, especially kids, pose a threat. Very brilliant and rather determined breeds such as Rottweilers, Dobermans and Akitas have become super popular, even stylish. Several sporting dogs are still used as hunting fellows today, albeit their gentle natures and superior of trainability have also earned them the reputation of being among the finest family dogs. However, without the proper training and socialization, and in irresponsible hands, these can be dangerous dogs. The crossing of bulldogs and terriers for the immediate purpose of creating fighting dogs has produced various dog breeds that can be dangerous in the wrong hands. Children and dogs make possibly happy partners, but selecting a dog that really likes to play with children is your best bet in organizing a match made in heaven. They are familiar faces from several media spots, including the movie Air Bud and the TV program Full House.

Your choice of dog determines the success of your dog training so choose the breed carefully and be sure that you love the dog and not just because it’s easy to train.
